People Are Doing This

By Matthew Kelly

Every week I receive hundreds of email from people telling me how they are applying The Dream Manager to their companies. Here is the best one I got this week.

Matthew:

As a 14 year old company that has a culture of employee motivation, we have 'Moved Cheese" together, we have fixed "Broken Windows and Broken Business", and even "Experienced Starbucks" as a group, but until we implemented the Dream Manager in our company 8 months ago, we did not touch the hearts, minds and souls of our staff.

My name is Joe Rozier and I am Vice President of Workforce Employment Solutions, a Midwestern staffing firm that has grown to the 35 to 40 million dollar range because of the most dedicated staff in the industry. My son works for a Cincinnati based consulting firm who has become very involved in your work and he suggested that I read the book because he felt it would be perfect for our company.

In January 2008, we introduced the concept by buying the book for our 32 staff members and asked them to read it by February 1, 2008. As we moved throughout the company for the next several weeks we spoke with staff members about what they felt about the reading and did they think this would be helpful to implement in our Company, the response was overwhelming and very emotional..................we found that not only had our staff stopped dreaming, many had forgotten how. In March 2008, the Workforce Dream Team was formed with 22 of our staff members strictly on a volunteer basis. We now have 26 active members in the group

We found in our early discussions, that the physical and financial limitations were affecting most of our staff in some form or fashion. At that time we introduced two programs that assisted our staff with their personal and financial wellness. "The Walk to Seattle" was a motivational tool that our staff was incented to walk 3,000 miles as a group in a 6 week period to earn our next staff meeting in Seattle. The results were amazing, we underestimated the powerful team building this brought about in our company and the wellness was just as amazing. The next 6 week of walking was a collecting walking program that the earned money to spend as a group while in Seattle. We are proud to say that the 7,000 mile plateau was reached with two week remaining. The financial part was the implementation of the Dave Ramsey program that encourages people to live within their means and reduce debit in their lives.

One month ago we moved into your Perfectly Yourself book and tomorrow we talk about Happiness and Character in our evening meeting. Everyone is keeping a Dream Journal and we have also created a Dream Team Blog so everyone can share their dreams, challanges, and success.

I am proud to say that people have been encouraged to return to college, take their child into a treatment center for help, moved out of their parents home, got a place for themselves and children...............and for me I am now driving a 1974 orange and white VW bus.

It is impossible to tell you all the excitement that your book has brought into our company. We thank you and would look forward to visiting with you in the near future.

Best
Joe
